A Note...

... to our loyal readers.

Guy is in Sweden, currently, and Girl is in Canada. No, we did not split up, as one of you has commented, but we do come from different sides of the world and this tends to happen when you are stupid enough to get involved in a long distance relationship.

So! To those of you who are expecting this website to be kept up to date on a regular basis (even after the fact that this has never happened so far), you will be disappointed.

But! We will try to watch the same movies, and we will try to write reviews about them at some point, then try to post those reviews on a semi-timely basis... maybe.

Some of you may call this a stilted promise, but we just call it reality. Unlike Lindsay Lohan, we have our feet planted firmly in it.

CONGO

Girl’s pick...

A one of a kind! A diamond in the rough! A classic, ahead of it’s time! Maybe I’m a bit over enthusiastic for this movie, but what more could you ask for in a horror film? A trip to a dangerous jungle, a treasure to be found, a talking gorilla, Bruce Campbell with a laser gun... Adds up to the best 109 minutes of your life.

Let’s look at it this way. IMDB gives it a 4.5 out of 10, Rotten Tomatoes gave it 22%, and I’m giving it five stars out of five... So, on average, that is 56% - a pass!!

Girl’s Rating: I’ll use a quote from the movie speak for itself: “Oh no! The bad apes have the crystal lasers!”

Guy’s monkey, monkey, monkey...

“Amy good gorilla”. It’s always cute to see the talking gorilla named Amy. Yep, we watched “Congo” again. I still love it but then again I love everything that stars Bruce Campbell even if he’s in this movie for just a couple of scenes.

In this classic (yes, classic) we’re in the jungle fighting off bad, really bad grey gorillas with huge fangs. A team of scientists is about to return a domesticated gorilla to the wild when they find an old city in the jungle inhabited by these beasts.

I don’t really know what to say about this movie. It has lasers some good tension and the guy from Nip/Tuck. I sadly watched it again on the DVD and now wish that I saw it on BluRay. It would be interesting to see how the lush jungle would look like in HD. Who cares, we’re here to talk about the movie and it holds up.

Guy’s Rating: Still awesome.
