A Note...

... to our loyal readers.

Guy is in Sweden, currently, and Girl is in Canada. No, we did not split up, as one of you has commented, but we do come from different sides of the world and this tends to happen when you are stupid enough to get involved in a long distance relationship.

So! To those of you who are expecting this website to be kept up to date on a regular basis (even after the fact that this has never happened so far), you will be disappointed.

But! We will try to watch the same movies, and we will try to write reviews about them at some point, then try to post those reviews on a semi-timely basis... maybe.

Some of you may call this a stilted promise, but we just call it reality. Unlike Lindsay Lohan, we have our feet planted firmly in it.

AMERICAN PSYCHO

Girl’s review...

This movie was a little bit crazy. I had never watched it before, but I had heard of Christian Bale’s character performance for some time, as I am a fan, so of course I had to watch it.

Uhm, what to say that hasn’t already been said about this movie? Crazy, hilarious, gross, horrific, entertaining. I would agree with all of that. Also! I would agree with anyone who has said that Patrick Bateman is one of the most interesting cinematic characters of all time. I’m not saying this is one of the best movies of all time, but it’s leading ‘protagonist’ is an amazing parody of American culture.

On a sad note, somehow I feel that Bale has taken this character into himself a little too deeply. Method actors. Dangerous breed.

Girl’s Rating: Great character creation. Worth the watch for those few who haven’t watched.

Guy’s review...

Yes, it was time to watch some classics and I, Guy, deem this movie a classic. Everybody knows that Christian Bale plays the lunatic and homicidal murderer Patrick Bateman in this movie. Hopefully most people who have some interest in movies have seen this movie already. If not, I urge that this will happen sooner or later.

I still think to this day that this is Bale’s best performance to date. I know that all you Dark Knight fans want to punch me in the face when I say this but come on, he’s awesome here. The thing with Batman (close to Bateman by the way) is that he has that voice he puts on. You know when he goes “I’m Batman”. It’s funny when it’s not suppose to be. You can’t take him a 100% serious. It might sound that I don’t like “The Dark Knight” when I spout stuff like this, but I do. In “American Psycho” we take him a 1000% seriously cause every little facial expression he makes is just great acting.

As I watched this for about the 50th time I realized that the violence wasn’t that bad. When I saw it when it came out I thought that it was super gory and almost too much to bare. Maybe with movies like “Saw” and “Hostel” I’ve been numbed to violence. This is probably a bad thing and too much of these new violent movies we might all turn into Batemans.

Guy’s Rating: Great, great, great.
