A Note...

... to our loyal readers.

Guy is in Sweden, currently, and Girl is in Canada. No, we did not split up, as one of you has commented, but we do come from different sides of the world and this tends to happen when you are stupid enough to get involved in a long distance relationship.

So! To those of you who are expecting this website to be kept up to date on a regular basis (even after the fact that this has never happened so far), you will be disappointed.

But! We will try to watch the same movies, and we will try to write reviews about them at some point, then try to post those reviews on a semi-timely basis... maybe.

Some of you may call this a stilted promise, but we just call it reality. Unlike Lindsay Lohan, we have our feet planted firmly in it.

THE STEPFATHER

Guy's little rant on horror...

Yes, it was time again for Hollywood to ruin another horror classic. I love the original "Stepfather" movie with Terry O'Quinn now more know as John Locke of "Lost". So as always I got exited when someone felt like rebooting this classic. Why do I get excited I hear you ask? I do because I want that feeling again that I got when I saw the original horrors again. I know deep down inside that this will not happen but I somehow seem to be able to repress that feeling.

On to this remake. Well, it was pretty much crap. Crap to the point that I wanted to shut it off at certain points in the movie. One thing they did that is very annoying - and they did this with the new "Friday the 13th" as well - they took the first original script and the sequel script and made them into a new original (but not so original) pumped up screenplay.

To make a slasher you need good kills, right? There's no memorable kills here at all. I'm trying to thing right now, but there's nothing. Suffocating someone with a plastic bag? No not that one... Drowning someone in a pool? No not that one either... In conclusion no original kills in this slaughter of a classic.

Guy's review: Get "The Stepfather" and "Stepfather II: Make Room for Daddy" starring Terry O'Quinn instead.

Girl's short, passing thoughts on The Stepfather...

It wasn't horrible. It wasn't good. It was just... blah. For the most part, boring and way too predictable.

The bad parts? There had to be a dozen full times when someone would turn around to have Dylan Walsh standing there, then they would scream in surprise, clutching their chest, and I'd roll my eyes... The acting wasn't great either - like they didn't bother trying.

The good parts? I enjoyed the opening scene, although it was obvious what we were going to see, and I haven't ever seen the original. Other good parts? I'm not sure there were any more.

Girl's Rating: Don't bother.
