First off, big props to John Kransinki for having good timing and being hilarious in this movie. Second off, another big props to Baldwin, Streep and Martin (in that order) for being talented, funny and overall great actors.
I have a hard time figuring out how Baldwin can make time for a bunch of movies a year and on top of that he stars in the very funny television show "30 rock". You would think that would bring the quality of his acting down... It hasn't.
The title of this movie is "It's Complicated", and it actually isn't. Let me explain. Streep is divorced from Baldwin for years. Now he has a new young wife that wants a baby with him. He falls back in love with Streep and they start an affair. During this affair Streep meets Martin who is a charming architect and falls for him. Does that sound complicated to you guys? If it does then I'm sorry and will admit that I'm wrong. I thought of it as a fairly simple story and that's also the reason why it worked.
The relationship that Baldwin and Streep have with their grown up children in the movie might be what's actually complicated. They do and don't wanna see their parents get together again, do for the reason that they will be a family again and don't for the reasons that they can't handle them breaking up again. A great little element to this rom-com.
All in all this is great movie. Yes, I said great. If you're a guy that's way too cool to admit this to people, you can just say that you watched the film for the score produced by Hans Zimmer. I know! Hans Zimmer scored this movie!?
Guy's Rating: Watch it alone, with your parents or with you girlfriend. It's all good.

Girl's review...
I've never been a huge Meryl Streep fan, but you can't argue with the fact that, at the age of 60, she's still got it! The big catch about this movie, for me, was the chemistry between Alec Baldwin and Meryl. Alec is such a sleazy guy, but he does it so well you can't help but love him. When he grabs Meryl's crotch and says "Home sweet home", you know that nobody could have done it better but Baldwin.
At first, the script seemed stilted. That group of women friends? Why is that always necessary in a movie directed towards women?? I don't have that. I don't do that. I definitely don't act like that... And if anyone were to prove me wrong, I'll hurt you. And the dynamic between Steve Martin (another star I've never had a soft spot for) and Streep was forced and I kept flinching whenever I thought Martin was going to fall into a French accent and grow a small mustache on the spot. But, they got it together near the middle of the film, about the time they got stoned, which is always fun to watch when they do it right - which they did.
Also, almost more important than everything I just wrote, I like that guy Jim from The Office, and so should you. He was the pretty little bow on this movie.
Girl's Rating: Watch this movie and support 60 year olds getting it on.
