A Note...

... to our loyal readers.

Guy is in Sweden, currently, and Girl is in Canada. No, we did not split up, as one of you has commented, but we do come from different sides of the world and this tends to happen when you are stupid enough to get involved in a long distance relationship.

So! To those of you who are expecting this website to be kept up to date on a regular basis (even after the fact that this has never happened so far), you will be disappointed.

But! We will try to watch the same movies, and we will try to write reviews about them at some point, then try to post those reviews on a semi-timely basis... maybe.

Some of you may call this a stilted promise, but we just call it reality. Unlike Lindsay Lohan, we have our feet planted firmly in it.

TOMBSTONE

Guy loves the wild west.

I’m gonna talk more about other western movies than “Tombstone” right now. I know Girl likes this movie and so do I, but there’s a bunch of movies that come to mind when we talk about this genre that are a lot better. I showed Girl “Unforgiven” not long ago (review is to be found on the site). That was probably one of the Clint Eastwood movies ever and also the western movie that stopped the genre. Nothing has been good enough to rival it. Before however there was a sea of great ones (“Once Upon a Time in the West”, “TGTBTU”, “Nevada Smith” and many, many more).

I would like to add this movie to the western classic right now. I don’t think people view it as a classic in this field so here we go. Val Kilmer does the part of Doc Holiday better than anyone ever has. Kurt Russell is a better Wyatt Earp than Kevin Costner could ever hope and Sam Elliott is good in anything.

I wish that anyone could come along and blow some life back into these types of movie. I doubt it however when movies like “Jonah Hex” are on the way out where they insert the super hero theme into the world of gunslinger. Why can’t people just be happy with a shootout at noon? I am, so get with it everybody.

I remember now! “The Proposition” is the best western movie that has come out in a long time. So if you really love outlaws and all that shit, then watch that.It will calm your hunger for a little while.

Guy’s Rating: As a reviewer I dub thee a classic.

Girl’s favorite...

Growing up, this was one of my favorite all time movies. I loved the characters, the deaths, the ending. Doc Holiday was the coolest character I knew, and the only role I liked Val Kilmer in (otherwise I find him a bit creepy). Tuberculosis suited him well.

Basically, if you haven’t seen this classic, then you have to. It was speak for itself.

Girl’s Rating: Rent it sometime, or add it to the DVD collection. It deserves a spot on anyone’s shelf.
